22,887 tonnes of end-of-life tyres were collected and recovered in Campania in 2015 to become surfaces for sports as well as “silent asphalts”, urban furniture, acoustic insulation, energy and much more.

Summer 2015 saw the introduction of an environmental regulation that extended the group of people who can be held legally responsible for waste management. With regard to the replacement of tyres, this means that in addition to the “tyre dealer” or duly authorized repair shop, which were always considered to be producers of the waste, the subject (e.g. driver of the vehicle) who requests the tyre replacement could also become jointly responsible.
