Collectors
Collectors represent the first operative step of the Ecopneus chain. They connect the approximately 30,000 generation points spread all over Italy to the collection and shredding centres. They assure a thorough, regular, and traced service.

Their role in the chain
When a tyre dealer completes their registration to the system and enters a collection request, a collector intervenes. They collect ELTs and follow the procedure for the issuance of the Waste Identification Form (WIF) according to the new RENTRI (National Electronic Register for Waste Traceability) regulations. Finally, they take the material to the Collection Centres (CC).
Every operation is digitally traced through the ISMART system, which records the quantity, typologies and destination of the ELTs. This allows Ecopneus to monitor the whole chain and precisely report all tyre flows to the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security.
How the companies are selected
The selection is carried out by the means of e-tenders held every three years. They are managed by an independent platform to assure transparency.
The interested companies can freely join the Ecopneus Supplier Register. They must subsequently access the procedures for taking part in the selection.
The three-year contracts assure operative continuity, regular flows of materials and timely payments. This allows companies to plan investments in technologies, means and qualified members of staff .
Ecopneus evaluates the offers according to criteria of overall efficiency: specific experience, productive capacity, technological equipment, financial stability, and elements of environmental impact reduction. Price is not the sole criterion for selection
Quality and certified standards
Quality standards are verified by the means of periodical audits and constant monitoring of operative performances. The certifications currently held by the collectors confirm the high network level:
- 89% of companies are ISO 9001 certified (Quality Management System)
- 59% of companies are ISO 14001 certified (Environmental Management System)
- 42% of companies are OHSAS 18001/ISO 45001 certified (Safety management System)
Compulsory requisites to operate in the chain
- Valid license for the registered activity
- Registration with RENTRI
- Registration with the National Environmental Operators, category 8
- Registration with the Prefectures’ White List
- No criticalities on professional and ethics reliability
A thorough network all over the Italian territory
The 16 collecting companies operate in all Italian regions, there included all islands. Their territorial distribution assures a uniform coverage of all collection requests without geographical or brand preferences.
