“I thought I had lost my way. Running made me realize I just needed to find it again.”
Giulia’s story, shared on the occasion of the Rome Marathon, is part of the broader narrative journey told by Ecopneus, where transformation takes shape over time and every path – just like that of materials – can lead to a new beginning, open up new possibilities and leave a mark that looks ahead to the future.
Giulia is thirty years old and running has always been part of her life. After spending some time abroad, she returned to Rome and decided to follow her dream of opening a bookstore with her sister. From that moment on, life took on a different pace: intense and fulfilling, but also filled with responsibility and pressure.
It is precisely at that point that running became an increasingly important part of her daily routine. A way to disconnect, to catch her breath and lighten the weight of everyday commitments. But not only that: through running, Giulia realized she was also learning to listen to herself, to rediscover her own rhythm and reconnect with who she truly is.
Over time, this activity turned into a deeply meaningful personal space. Running taught her to listen to her body and to build an inner dialogue. Giulia says she learned how to breathe while running, and along with her breath, her perspective on her own limits changed as well. There has always been a simple thought accompanying her, one she now feels is truly hers: “I don’t know if I can do it, but I’ll try.” It’s the mantra that reflects how she approaches both running and life.
Step by step, this awareness led her to take on the challenge of the Rome Marathon.
Crossing the finish line is not just about completing a race; it represents the recognition of her journey, a symbol of regained balance, renewed confidence and the discovery of a new version of herself.
Giulia’s story is an example of how sport – and running in particular – can be a powerful ally in personal growth, an antidote to stress and a way to uncover new inner resources.
