Tyrefield sports surfaces at the Sports Festival in 2018
After the success of the past edition, Ecopneus goes back to the “Sports Festival (in Trento from 10th to 13th October) installing 4 Tyrefield surfaces thanks to the rubber recycled from End-of-Life Tyres, with the support of Limonta Sport, Pentaplast, Casei Ecosystem, Mapei, Waterproofing and Biomoove as a technical partner. Ecopneus, the non-profit consortium that manages the collection and recycling of about 220,000 tonnes of End-of-Life Tires every year will be Sustainability Partner of the 2019 edition of the “Sports Festival”.

The Tyrefield surfaces for football, volleyball and basketball
The synthetic turf Tyrefield football pitch will be this year’s news in Trento. It will be installed in Piazza Fiera with the support of Limonta Sport and Pentaplast. This technology is of the highest international standards, and it is more and more appreciated also by the Serie A clubs (Italy’s main football championship), thanks to the many advantages this solution offers: it allows athletes to train and play in every weather condition, 7 days out of 7, drastically cutting those management and maintenance costs that are necessary with traditional natural turf. Moreover, there is no water waste and no use of agrochemicals.
In addition to this, the recycled rubber performing mat present under the synthetic turf and the recycled rubber infill among the grass blades guarantee the maximum playability, an optimal bouncing of the ball and a response of the ground to the athlete that is equal to the one of the best natural turf pitches.
On top of the football pitch in Piazza Fiera, there will be a lot of sport also in Piazza Dante with the Tyrefield volleyball court and two basketball courts made with the support of Casei Ecosystem, Mapei, and Waterproofing, and thanks to Professor Mauro Testa’s scientific consultancy. He is an expert of the company Biomoove. Also a new test court for the 3-on-3 basketball will be created in Piazza Dante. This sport will debut as an Olympic discipline in Tokyo2020. The recycled rubber composition of the surface for this sport has been studied, designed, and made to expressly satisfy the needs of the 3-on-3 basketball, thanks to Giacomo “Gek” Galanda’s supervision. Giacomo is the ex-captain of the Italian national basketball team and, also this year, he is animating the Tyrefield basketball together with over 100 boys and girls during the Sports Festival, for a morning dedicated to great basketball.

The characteristics of Tyrefield sport fields with recycled rubber
In Tyrefield volleyball and basketball sports surfaces, recycled rubber is used to create the performance backing under the playing field. The mixtures used are designed to obtain both adequate shock absorption and optimisation of the return of elastic energy, which provides a perfect response to the athlete’s biomechanical needs, a reduction in muscle fatigue, the attenuation of micro-traumas and an overall improvement in sports performance.
